A Toast to Freedom, Culture, Pride and Ofcourse Soup Joumou
North Miami Beach, Florida (Dec. 2021)– Soup Joumou, a long standing Haitian Kreyol tradition that symbolizes Independence, Freedom and Pride. Join Jones Pierre, Haitian Pooh Bear in association with Headliner Market Group for the 3rd Annual Soup & Champagne All White Affair from 7pm-12am on Saturday, January 1st, 2022 at the Ancient Spanish Monastery, 16711 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL 33160 .
“January 1st of every new year celebrates the Independence of Haiti where the popular pumpkin based delicacy known as “Soup Joumou” is often served. The North Miami Beach Commissioner McKenzie Fleurimond and The CRA is proud to support and celebrate Haitian culture with the community of NMB,” says Joann Milord, Community Redevelopment Agency Director.
The Soup & Champagne event continues to grow and evolve each year, capturing the true essence of haitian culture while providing a hybrid of fresh multicultural experiences to excite your senses. Hosted by Haitian-American Cox Media radio personality Supa Cindy, there will be live perfomances by international band T-VIce. Produced by Jones Pierre, Haitian Pooh Bear and Headliner Market Group; past Soup & Champagne events have seen the likes of singer actor Jamie Foxx and many Haitian-American tastemakers out to commemorate the special day.
This year’s Soup & Champagne event will take place at the Historic Ancient Spanish Monastery which has deep ties to Haiti and Haitians in the diaspora. The 12th Century Spanish Style Monastery houses a French bell that was gifted to Haiti in 1805. It was given as a symbol of the Haitian Independence to Jean Jacques Dessalines. This bell and symbol of freedom now hangs in the tower of the Monastery.
With this backdrop of history, food and celebration of bubbles, Soup & Champagne will usher in 2022 with grand style and culture for all to share and celebrate. The all white affair will have live entertainment by DJ Stakz, DJ K9, DJ Lucky C with complimentary Soup Joumou and Champagne by J.P Chenet.
