Join the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust to celebrate the Juneteenth Freedom Day Holiday with a day filled with games, food and fun for the entire family on June 22, 2024 at The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, 4020 Virginia Beach Drive, Miami FL 33149 from 12PM to 4PM.
“Juneteenth was designated as a federal holiday in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are honored that we can now fully celebrate that designation and the rich history of Black people in this country in a special way” says Athalie Edwards, Executive Director/ CEO of the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust.
The Juneteenth Beach Bash is the first event to commemorate the Juneteenth Holiday at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. It serves to unite the community in honoring the legacy at a space that was originally the only beach Black people could dwell in Miami.
The day will not only include fun activities such as a petting zoo, bounce houses, live music and games but an opportunity to learn about the significance of Juneteenth and the park. Come and enjoy food from Tasty Delight, cool delights from Kona Ice while enjoying the sounds of DJ Springer. Get to know more about Blacks in Marine Science, Repair the World, and Sustain the Culture and how you can get involved.
